Dipset affiliate Max B was arrested today (Sept. 29) in connection with a recent murder at a Holiday Inn hotel in Fort Lee, NJ.
According to sources close to the case, Max (born Charles Wingate) was arrested under suspicion of masterminding the murder of a Florida man, 29-year-old David Taylor, during a botched robbery last Friday (Sept. 22). Four Bronx, NY people were also arrested on robbery conspiracy charges for allegedly conspiring to rob Taylor and his assumed business partner, 41-year-old Allan Plowden, earlier this week. None of the four initial arrested were charged with Taylor's murder and they all plead not guilty in BergenCounty's Superior Court yesterday (Sept. 28). Meanwhile, Plowden was charged with money laundering and possession of identity theft.
According to the sources, 23-year-old Maite Castro and 24-year-old Gisselle Nieves allegedly posed as prostitutes to lure Taylor and Plowden in for 27-year-old Julio Cruz and 30-year-old Edward Blancaneaux to rob them.
Initially, one man rejected another alleged prostitute brought to them by Cruz and Blancaneaux. Being scorned by the men, that unnamed woman allegedly suggested to her boyfriend, Max B, that they should rob Taylor and Plowden. Max's crew then apparently beat Cruz and Blancaneaux to the punch and robbed the two men, shooting and killing Taylor. Though he's not believed to be the triggerman, Max is suspected to have allegedly orchestrated the robbery.
According to The Star Ledger, Bergen County Assistant Prosecutor Catherine Fantuzzi told a Superior Court Judge that the botched robbery was "related to the homicide" committed in the hotel room at 4:40 a.m. this past Friday. The probe is still ongoing according to James V. Santulli, BergenCounty's Assistant Prosecutor. Santulli initially wouldn't name any suspects in fear that it could affect the investigation.
According to the police, two unidentified men reached the hotel around 3 a.m., entered the rooms and bound and gagged Plowden without hurting Nieves as both were in the room. Taylor, who had been in a separate room with Castro, was called into the other room and shot in the head upon arrival, police said. Castro remained in the other room. Plowden later informed the hotel clerk that a man had been shot in room 408 where cops eventually found Taylor. Officers also caught Plowden walking out of the room with $30,000 of his own money, police said.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli, no drugs or weapons were found in the room. He also said that the others present during the shooting didn't notify the hotel clerk until 35-40 minutes later. All the defendants are presently being held in the Bergen County jail. Fantuzzi had a search warrant for Plowden's 2007 Mercedes, but didn't reveal whether anything was uncovered. They are hold being held on $100,000 bails expect Nieves who is being held on $35,000 bail.
Max B is presently signed to Jim Jones' Byrd Gang Records. He has previously appeared on countless Dipset songs, including Cam'ron's "You Got It," the pink panther's Jay-Z dis.

SoundScan F's Up, "Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor" Debuts at #1 On Top Rap Albums Chart |
After having his album leaked early, Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor is #1 on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart.
The record, which is currently being fueled by Lupe's latest single "Daydreamin" featuring Jill Scott, is also #2 on the Hip Hop/R&B albums chart and # 8 on the Billboard Top 200, after selling over 80,000 copies in its first week on the shelves. Due to an error in album sales reporting from Best Buy stores nation wide, the final numbers were only made available by SoundScan today (September 29). Before the error was corrected, the album was charted lower than expected, which drew some criticism for the Chicago MC.
The chart topping set, which also features the hit "Kick,Push" and the Neptunes-produced "I Gotcha" is executive produced by Jay-Z and features production by hip hop heavyweights Kanye West, Needlez and Mike Shinoda of LinkinPark.
In related news, Lupe was recently nominated for a "Breaking Woodie" award, which will be given to the year's Best Emerging Artist at the upcoming mtvU Woodie Awards, set to be held on October 25th at New York's Roseland Ballroom.
The mtvU Woodie Awards will air on mtvU and mtvU.com on November 2nd.

Nelly Saves Eight Lives, Says New Album Coming In 2007 |
Nelly may have his critics, but there are eight people who can thank their lives for him--literally.
Three years ago, the St. Louis rapper founded a nonprofit named Jes Us 4 Jackie with his sister Jackie Donahue, who was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia in March 2001.
The foundation was launched as a way to raise awareness about the disease and to find a possible bone marrow donor for Donahue, who passed away in March 2005 after her leukemia came out of remission.
Death rates from leukemia, which is a cancer of the white blood cells, are highest amongst African-Americans.
Jes Us 4 Jackie found matches for various children and adults within the first two years of operation.
The latest success story for the foundation involves a young lady in California. Nelly's aunt Chalena Mack, who coincidentally runs the foundation, was found to be an exact match.
Nelly, who duets with Janet Jackson on her single "Call On Me," is also preparing his as-yet-untitled follow-up to the 2004 double disc Sweat/Suit.
Sweat debuted at No.1 on Billboard's Top 200 albums chart, while Suit landed at No. 2 the same day.

Fabolous' New Album Pushed Back To Feb, Rapper Gives New Producers A Chance |
Fabolous' Def Jam debut, tentatively titled From the Bottom to the Top, has been pushed back until February 2007, according to the Brooklyn, N.Y., rapper.
Due to conflicts with the original October release date, Fabolous said the album was pushed back to December and is now slated to hit stores next year, featuring production by Just Blaze, Jazze Pha, and Kanye West, among others.
While Fabolous remained tightlipped about the cameos on the album, he revealed that many of the tracks were crafted by up-and-coming producers.
Fabolous also took advantage of new technology, by auditioning producers using popular Internet sites to find new and untapped talent.
Fabolous' most recent effort, Real Talk, spawned the single "Breathe," his highest-charting single to date as a solo artist, but failed to match his previous successes, selling only 500,000 units.
His platinum-selling 2001 debut Ghetto Fabolous generated the hit singles "You Can't Deny It," featuring Nate Dogg, and "Young'n," while 2003's Street Dreams has also sold over a million copies.
Slow sales of Real Talk and a rift in his relationship with Atlantic prompted Fabolous to leave the label last spring and sign a deal with Def Jam, which is headed by fellow Brooklyn MC Jay-Z.
Fabolous plans to precede his Def Jam release with the second installment of his mixtape Loso's Way, which will arrive in December.

Rev. Run Addresses Child Loss, "We See Life In Death" |
Hip-Hop icon and Run-DMC co-founder Joseph "Rev. Run" Simmons released a statement yesterday (September 28) regarding the death of his newborn daughter, Victoria Anne. The rapper's wife, Justine, delivered the baby girl via c-section at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ on Tuesday (September 26). The child died a short time later.
Justine was pregnant with Victoria throughout much of the second season of the family's MTV reality show "Run's House." The sex of the baby was left as a cliffhanger on the season finale.
"On Sept. 26, 2006, Victoria Anne Simmons for some unknown reason chose to come early and unfortunately did not survive," said Run via the statement. "We must accept whatever is there and once you accept unconditionally, then everything is beautiful. Every pain has a purifying effect. So whatever comes your way, just be thankful. We see life in death and believe in the celebration of life in death."
According to TMZ.com, the baby girl reportedly emerged with some organs outside the body. The site also claimed that MTV cameras were inside the hospital at the time of the birth, but it is still unclear whether they were in the delivery room.
Russell Simmons , Run's older brother , discounted TMZ.com's report about the baby emegering with some organs outside the body.
"I don't think that's true," Russell told The New York Daily News. "I just spoke to Joey and Justine, and they're very strong - the whole family is very strong. Being overwhelmed by grief is the normal state of things, but they recognize that it's all God. I don't think they're overwhelmed by grief, but they're struggling."
Russell revealed he was 'sure' that MTV were there during the birth and that the show will have to deal with the tragedy.

Method Man Not Dropped From Def Jam |
Despite rumors that Method Man has been dropped by Island Def Jam, the emcee is still with the legendary label, according to sources.
Rumors recently began spreading that Meth was dropped from IDJ due to low album sales. Meth's independent reps and a Def Jam spokesperson both denied the rumors.
In recent months, the Shaolin emcee has been quite vocal on his discontent with the label and his current President, Sean "Jay-Z" Carter. In a recent interview with SOHH, Meth further fueled the rumors of his possible departure by praising the independent route.
Meth recently dropped his fourth Def Jam release, 4:21...The Day After. The album sold 62,300 units in its first week, marking his lowest numbers since recording with the label.
To date, he has dropped three other albums: 1994's Tical, 1998's Tical 2000: Judgment Day and 2004's Tical 0: The Prequel.
Method Man's 4:21...The Day After is in stores now.

After moving to Cherry Hill, New Jersey where he became the keyboard player for the Philadelphia hip-hop band The Roots, he played keyboards for other Philly artists including Schoolly D and G. Love.
Storch began experimenting with his own productions by making beats for The Roots. He then left the band and learned more about the art of making beats from Dr. Dre and Timbaland. Storch is now one of the most in-demand hip-hop producers today, working on beats for a wide variety of artists. Unlike many of his contemporaries (Kanye West, Pharrell), Storch rarely uses samples in his beats, preferring to create his own music.
